Clay, glaze, and firing log

Clay Manual ยท claymanual.com

Write only what happened. A blank line means you do not have that fact. Do not invent a firing schedule to complete the sheet.

Date

Clay name, manufacturer, and batch or lot

Initial length and unit

Final length and unit

Stage (wet to dry, dry to fired, wet to fired, or a named custom stage)

Glaze product and application notes

Kiln model and controller

Firing or cone information the studio recorded

Observations

Arithmetic example, not a studio test. 100 mm measured later at 88 mm is 12% linear shrinkage for that stage. No clay name or cone belongs in that example.
